Lowell and Helen’s Boy is an anthology of poems written by their son, Ryan Lowell Fulton, which spans a lifetime—the lifetime of the author, starting with a homework assignment in the 6th grade and culminating in later years with a maturity in thought and technical development derived from purpose, practice, and perseverance. Some poems communicate healing, or well-being, …some communicate political leanings and personal convictions with a moral compass. Others communicate the joy of children, the diversity of life, and some bear a sense of sadness… but all communicate the deep, vibrant personality of the author.
Each poem is accompanied by a narrative written by the author, providing background, context, and personal feelings at the time the poem was written. Reading the poem first, followed by the narrative, will give the reader an opportunity to reflect on and understand the content of each poem in a personal way.
